Third World Conference of Solidarity with Cuba has been postponed

Apr 10, 2014 by

Dear Friends,

After a deep and careful analysis, the Organizing Committee of the 3rd World Conference of Solidarity with Cuba has decided to postpone this event.

Fundamental tasks our country will be carrying out this year as part of the updating process of our economic and social model, will demand the greatest effort and attention from all.

We know many of you had already started actions in order to build a strong US delegation and join us in this event for peace, friendship and international solidarity.

We thank all of you sincerely. At the same time, we ask for your understanding to face this difficult but necessary decision.

The solidarity movement in support of Cuba does not dwell on the past. That is why we invite you to focus all efforts in priorities like promoting Cuba’s reality and the need to lift the blockade that for  more than half a century has tried to strangle the Cuban people. We are also immersed in putting into practice measures to have a prosperous and sustainable society and they will need to be promoted as well.

The struggle for the freedom of Tony, Gerardo and Ramón, our Cuban Heroes, demand all our efforts to put an end to 16 years of unjust imprisonment. We urge you to continue supporting this important cause that will be defended once again during the “Weeks of actions for the Five” to be held in Washington, D.C., from June 4th to11th, 2014.

The Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples acknowledges your strong and active solidarity work, convinced that we will continue working together for a world of peace and solidarity between the peoples of our countries.

Fraternally,

NORTH AMERICAN DIVISION,
ICAP
