Jun 5, 2016 by

Friends of Cuba:

Tuesday, June 7th, Dr. Antonio Becali, Cuba’s Minister of Sports, the highest Cuban official ever approved to come to the US not directly brought in by the US government will come to Pittsburgh under the umbrella of the Pittsburgh-Matanzas Sister Cities Partnership, in collaboration with the Hibernian Celtic Athletic Fund.
Dr. Antonio Becali, Cuba’s Minister of Sports, (what would be equivalent to a Cabinet Position in our government and only the 3rd Cuban Minister to ever come to the US) is following up and his official translator, an expert on baseball in her own right, Lic. Judith Langaney, who was here last month with Lic. Martha Lidia Ruiz, the Director of International Relations for the Ministry of Sports, and Heriberto Suarez Pereda, Cuba’s Commissioner of Baseball to work out the logistics for Cuban youth’s participation in “BOXING ON THE BRIDGE” scheduled here in Pittsburgh on July 30th.
Dr. Becali is here to make arrangements for our own Pittsburgh youth boxers to travel to Cuba, June 14th with their coaches to meet and train with the Cuban youth who will be coming to Pittsburgh for the youth boxing tournament (already named by the Post Gazette as one of the top 10 not to miss sporting events of 2016!) when the Roberto Clemente Bridge will be closed down for a free public event for the people of Pittsburgh, the historic, Inaugural ‘Deulo Del Siglo’ a Pittsburgh-Cuba youth boxing tournament.
We would like to offer you two opportunities to meet Dr. Becali and Judith Langaney:
