Curious about Cuba?

Learn about Art, Culture and the Achievements of Cuban Women

March 3rd – 12th 2017

Cuba is an island home to 11 million people and more social and economic services than anywhere else in the Caribbean. Added to environmental riches are cultural riches, such as universal literacy, free and effective healthcare, access to art and culture, a burgeoning local, sustainable agriculture. Melding survival under terms of isolation with a philosophy of social good has made Cuba what it is today: a vibrant, energetic country and culture.  As U.S.- Cuban relations change, come and learn about island life, Cuban-style!

We plan to meet with and learn from people engaged in:

·      The literacy campaign that made Cuba a UN-designated “illiteracy-free zone”.

·      The changing role of women after the revolution.

·      Current education, both youth and communities.

·      Visual arts, painters, print-makers, mosaics, book-makers. visit galleries and museums.

·      The effects of the embargo and why it must end.

·      Art, poetry, literature and music that sustains the Cuban soul & performance events.

·      The Martin Luther King Center, a vibrant hub for community education and faith.

·      Ecology, of the earth, of communities, of the mind.

  • Celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 and much more!
